Thank you Horny

My props goes out to my hubby today. He braved the the 27 degree weather with me on a 5k event. No he doesn't run outside, but handles the treadmills very well. Everyone who planned to run that I anticipated coming, bailed out when they heard it was 27 feels like 25 degrees. My husband felt that if I can run out there, that he will be the one to keep me company and be my side kick.

Well, I had to wait for him to get dress that was our first delay. We parked and we started running to pick up a shoe chip for him,our second delay. Got the chip and we can hear the siren starting the race. We run to the start of the race, being that he has never enter a run, I had to tell him to stop I have to put this chip on your shoe. That was our third delay. I clicked my watch at the starting line and we were off. It was one minute forty seconds into the race.

We ran together for about a half mile before his long strides were ahead of me. It was freezing cold, but not as cold as some of my other fellow bloggers weather. It was a trip seeing a lot of folks running in what looked like snow suits.

However, approaching mile 1 my watch read 8:15. I smiled. My husband ahead of me about the same distance. At the half way point my watch read 12:05, "cool beans" I thought if I keep this up I can break 25. Well I just wanted make it in the 26's today. I saw my hubby, but he didnt see me. He looked comfortably and graceful, his flow was rhythmic. He was great to watch.

Approaching mile 2 my watch read 16:30 and my mind thought "9 minutes will get my 26, stay comfortable" and that I did. Keeping myself ready for long run tomorrow. My husband getting away from me but still in view, looking comfortable with his form, but his hair now completely exposed. Uncommon, he keeps his hair covered while working out.

My finishing time on my watch 26:21. My chip time 27:41
My husband's chip time was 26:31. I believe he was a minute ahead or so. I'll give 3 minute credit for starting late and time ahead of me. I think he did pretty darn gon good. Let's see what he thinks.

Here I come across the line my normal goofy self and he is cheering me on like he can't wait for me to get to him. "Wow honey I applaud you, I don't know how you did it. Do you know you just ran a marathon?" Now who is really goofy here. He cracking me up, saying how it feels like he just ran a marathon and stuff hurts. Knowing that my hubby is a little off balanced I take right over to the juices and bananas. "Here eat this, you'll be alright"

I'm feeling like I just warmed up,let's go run."(ME)
"I have a new perspective on what you do."(HUB)
"Good now you can be my race buddy"
"No I think I'll keep cheering for you"
"Thank you Horny"

sounds like you had fun running together (well, behind him). I ran in 33 degrees lower than your run. But being all relative, I'm sure it felt just as cold to you. Good job for braving the cold.

Hey, fantatsic race! Take away the rush to the start and getting off a little after the gun and you've got your 25. The hard work is paying dividends. There's no recession in the running economy.

Your husband is a great guy...of course you already know that.

Congratulations to you both.
