Long Run. Went a little farther. This week being better than last
week. My girl Jo-jo was there doing what she do. She pulled me for
about seven miles before she had let me to go. It was 81 degrees at
6:30am, but the sun was covered by the clouds. We did get a little
drizzle too. My girl, JC did her first 8mile route today, Lisa pulled
her for 4 miles. We ran in Stridersville.

I'm still trying different fuel strategies, haven't quite found the
source for my morning long run yet. I have 16 weeks til the
marathon 4 weeks til the first half marathon so I'm feeling I'll have
time to find it. I'm taking any suggestions. In 2003 when I use
train for marathon before, I use to eat in the morning eggs white
and drink about a half a can of Red Bull. About mile 16, I remember
feeling like it wanted to come up. However I don't think I wanna go
that route again. So my question of the month is
"what do you eat for breakfast?"

My weight hasn't changed after 3 weeks of eating lighter trying to
boot off the extra 5 lbs. So bump it. It'll be gone after December
(and some.) These longer runs will take it off too, I think I left a
little something out there today!

Dont forget to vote to the right and the question of the month.
Tanx!

Hey Pamela,
Forget the egg whites and the Red Bull (crap). You need complex carbo's to fuel your runs. Ex. Oatmeal with walnuts and raisins, or a bagel with peanut butter and jelly, a cup of coffee won't hurt the caffeine will help your body use fat as a energy source faster. Just make sure you drink the coffee early enough that the movement(bowel) due won't affect your run. During the run simple carbs work best (gels) hammer, gu, what ever is your taste. at the end of a run thats when you want to ingest more protein for recovery, egg whites are a good source.
